MISSION STATEMENT

 

The Center for Microbiology at UC Berkeley joins faculty, graduate students, and postdocs with interests in microbiology from the Departments of Molecular and Cell Biology, Plant and Microbial Biology, Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Schools of Public Health and Optometry, and The Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. The Center functions as a dynamic resource for the microbiology community at UC Berkeley. The interdepartmental Center for Microbiology at UC Berkeley aims to accomplish the following:

 

* Promote and enhance research among microbiologists on campus.

* Manage applications for outside funding of training grants and program projects.

* Serve as a locus for private fund-raising.

* Increase interaction among microbiologists on campus.

* Encourage and establish program projects.

* Identify outstanding microbiologists for faculty recruitment.

* Raise the overall quality of research at UC Berkeley in other areas that depend on microbiology.
